Often, my learners tell me they are working on several assignments at once, and I always tell them this is a big mistake. When you start several assignments at once and keep moving forward with the learning, you are not actually moving forward; you are not retaining the information you learned, and you start to feel unmotivated because you cannot see any achievement.
If you got yourself into such a situation, stop what you are doing and go back to the oldest assignment. Don't move on to another assignment until you finish it. If you previously moved on to another assignment because you were stuck, ask your tutor for help instead of giving up on completing the assignment.
If you lack motivation to finish an assignment, schedule a reasonable time to complete it in your diary; this could be an hour after work, or a couple of hours at the weekend. Stick to the schedule. Don't plan too many hours at once. It won't work; you will lose concentration, and your motivation won't last long. Instead, schedule an hour or two at a time, then do something nice, like going out with friends, watching a movie, or reading your favourite book.
You are not alone in lacking the motivation to continue, especially if you have several assignments on the go. Once you tackle this barrier and get your first assignment completely signed off by the assessor, your motivation will grow, and you will keep moving forward.
We are always big on wellbeing, and any situation, no matter how difficult, has a solution. Talk to your tutor; if you feel stuck, make small changes, be kind to yourself, and celebrate the little achievements on your way to becoming a qualified dental nurse. This is your journey. Own it.
